No, it is normal that every 110 min the voltage decreases for 5 min but you should not see an increase of current, you should read zero. It is normal instead that after 5 minutes the voltage and the current go back to normal trickle charge conditions. It looks like a separate load might have been connected directly in parallel with the battery

 

We specify power loss dissipation in our datasheet as “Dissipation power load max” in watt. The conversion from watt to BTU is the following: 1 watt is equal to 3.41214163513 BTU per hour.

 

They are 2 different tests. Every 60 seconds we test the status of terminal connections. This is base on impedance measurement and we need to draw current from the battery for a short time. The “no battery connected” signal will appear quite immediately after the battery has been disconnected. This is simply based on voltage measurement

 

RTCONN: it is the cable for position 5

RJTEMP: it is the external temperature probe for battery charging compensation (please see the Instruction Manual)

ERJ.CBI.004: it is RJ45 cable for the connection of Two devices CBI Size 3 in Parallel (please see the Instruction Manual)

 

The transition from boost to float occurs when the current absorbed by the battery goes below 12% of the current set by the trimmer.

 

Our CBI can work without problems or performance degradations till -40°C. We are outside of the guaranteed zone but they will work. If your concern is to prevent charging below -20°C, the best option is to install a separate thermostat on the battery output. It can be a simple external bi-metallic thermostat.

The product FLEX28024A has an integrated diode.

If your request is about a redundant system, you have to insert also the item MR220 as shown in the instruction manual

 

 

 

This is the normal condition of the CBI's World, the load Output follows the Battery Output, bat the maximum range it is until 28.8 Vdc (2.4 Vdc /cell max 15 hours) if you set jumper in position 6 like the instruction manuals, but only if you put the jumper in position 6.

Otherwise, the Outputs Voltage devices follow the maximum setting Voltage of Trickle Charge Jumper position.

 

Yes. We test the quality of terminals connection with an impedance test every 60 sec

 

The passage from one stage of the battery charging is not determined by timing but rather by voltage and current measurements.

Recovery: stimulate the batteries with current pulses until the voltage does not exceed the threshold of 18V.

Charge-boost/absorption: the condition is terminated when the current absorbed by the batteries fall below 1/8 of the set from Charging Current Level (time out of 15 hours and a minimum of 1 minutes period).

Trickle/Float: he returns to the Boost Charge closing the pins of Fast Charge Enable (pos.6) or when the battery voltage falls below 24V and the current absorbed by the batteries is greater than ¼ of the set from Charging Current Level.

 

The “battery startup” means that the device can drive the output load also without input Mains but only with a battery connected; by Push-Bottom in the Front Panel of the device or by external Push-Bottom mounted in the Panel by RTCONN connector.

You have to know that the output load is stabilized,

This means that any variation of the absorption current of the Output Voltage is Fixed.

You have to put a regulator only if your customer needs a fixed voltage like 24 Vdc, because the device has not Industrial wide-range input of 20 – 30 Vdc that is standard.

 

The life test is conducted by impedance test every 110 min. The internal software has a proprietary algorithm that can discriminate if a battery is sulfated. This test is conducted every 110 minutes and, if after 2 cycles in sequence (2x110 = 220 minutes) the test is positive, the diagnosis alarm will trigger indicating that the battery is sulfated and needs to be replaced. The life test can be disabled by setting a jumper in the appropriate position.

 

Our All in One series CBI has two independent outputs, one for the Load and one for recharging the battery, for which we can differentiate the current absorbed by the load from the current which flows in the battery.
